- Review OCR fields such as merchant, date, tax, total, currency, payment method, and line items.
- Add category, project, client, and notes so receipts are easier to search later.
- Use keyword search to jump straight to a receipt when you need it.
- Export an encrypted .receiptvaultbackup file before changing phones or reinstalling the app.
Scanning, OCR, Search, and Backup
How can I improve OCR accuracy?
Use bright even lighting, flatten the receipt, keep all receipt edges visible, avoid shadows, and make sure the text is in focus.
How does search work?
Search merchant, project, client, notes, or recognized receipt fields to open the matching receipt detail and original image.
How do I move data to a new iPhone?
Export a .receiptvaultbackup file and save it to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new iPhone, install Receipt Vault and restore from that backup file.
Export, Privacy, and Pro
What export formats are supported?
Receipt Vault supports CSV export and Pro export tools such as PDF reports and ZIP packages with data and receipt images.
Does Receipt Vault upload receipts to a server?
No. Receipt Vault is designed as a local-first app. Receipts stay in local app storage unless you export, share, or back them up.
How do I restore Pro?
Open the Pro screen in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple using your Apple ID.
Troubleshooting
Camera or photo import does not work
Check Camera and Photos permissions in iOS Settings, then restart the app and try again.
Export fails
Check that the export filter matches at least one receipt, confirm there is enough device storage, and try exporting a smaller date range.
Backup restore fails
Confirm that the file is a .receiptvaultbackup file and that the password is correct. Passwords cannot be recovered by Receipt Vault.
